Interdisciplinary organized session prize

ISHPSSB is pleased to announce the six finalists for the 2019 Interdisciplinary Organized Session Prize:

  • Rethinking Transnationalism in the Anthropological and Genetic Study of Human Populations (double session)
    Monday 14:30–16:00 and 16:30–18:00

  • Organism naming practices in and out of biology (double session)
    Tuesday 09:00–10:30 and 11:00–12:30

  • Dehumanization in connection with biological determinism, anthropomorphism, and essentialism 
    Tuesday 14:30–16:00

  • New narratives in the history, philosophy, and social study of biological engineering
    Wednesday 11:00–12:30

  • Exploring Biological Ontologies Through the Interdisciplinary Lens of Ethnobiology
    Wednesday 14:30–16:00

  • The concept of the environment in biology: Historical, philosophical, and sociological perspectives (double session)
    Thursday 11:00–12.30 and 14:30-16:00

The winning session will be announced at the Awards Ceremony on Thursday afternoon. All participants in the winning session will receive certificates from ISHPSSB to acknowledge their participation. On the occasion of this inaugural prize, an award of US$500 will be made to the organizer(s) of the winning session, funded by the journal Studies in History and Philosophy of the Biological and Biomedical Sciences (Studies C) and its publisher Elsevier.
